Dr. Steven Wahlmeier was born and raised outside Hastings, Nebraska. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the William Beaumont Hospital outside Detroit, Michigan. He completed a fellowship with specialized training in orthopaedic spine surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Wahlmeier is married and has three children. He stays busy with school and kids’ activities but enjoys outdoor activities in his free time. He is looking forward to being back in Nebraska near friends and extended family as well as being able to serve the communities he and his family grew up in.

My friend was having unbearable nerve pain while on a trip to Japan. He is from the Czech Republic and being seen by a doctor and scheduled for surgery could take up to a year. We made an appointment with Dr Webb and Dr Wahlmeier, flew home to Lincoln, were seen and examined the morning after we arrived and his surgery was completed less than 24 hours later. I have the utmost confidence in his ability. He took the time to explain things to me and we went over my x-rays and MRIs. He answered all my questions and addressed all my different concerns. Together we reached a plan of treatment that was best for me. Follow up care continues to impress. All my HR and FMLA paperwork was done accurately and in a timely manner. I definitely recommend Dr. Wahlmeier and his nurse Jesse for your orthopedic needs. I felt like he always took the time to listen to me no matter how long it took. It took him a month to complete a surgery that 100% relieved my pain that no other doctor could relieve in 1 and 1/2 years that controlled my whole life. I have only had two visits so far and both have been very positive for me. Dr. Wahlmeier takes time to explain, in detail, my MRI and X-ray results, improving my understanding of just what is going on. He explains the process of determining the least invasive solutions to start with and, if those are not successful, where we go from there. I already trust his judgement and recommendations.
