Nick L. Van Roekel, M.D.
Dr. Nick Van Roekel is originally from Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he graduated summa cum laude. Following his undergraduate career, he attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated with high distinction. Dr. Van Roekel went on to complete his orthopaedic residency at the University of New York at Buffalo. Following residency, he completed a fellowship with specialized training in adult reconstruction and trauma surgery at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul.
Dr. Van Roekel specializes in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee. He cares for common disorders such as arthritis, and treats complex conditions associated with hip and knee replacements including periprosthetic fractures, infections, and painful joint replacements. He performs a wide variety of procedures and surgeries including total hip replacement, robotic-assisted total knee replacement, and revision hip and knee replacement. In addition to his subspecialty, he participates in general orthopaedic call to repair fractures.
Dr. Van Roekel strongly believes in providing compassionate, patient-centered care, helping coordinate non-operative and operative treatment plans with his patients in a team-based approach. His goal is to continue providing innovative and compassionate care by minimizing the suffering and discomfort associated with treatable conditions of the hip and knee.
In his free time, Dr. Van Roekel enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children, golfing, road biking, and traveling. He is a avid fan of Iowa State Cyclones and Buffalo Bills.Â
