Matt J. Honerman, MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS

Matt J. Honerman, MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS was born in Merriam, KS. During preschool, his family relocated to North Platte, NE where Matt grew up to love all things sports. Matt played baseball, football, basketball, golf, roller hockey, and he lifted weights and did strength conditioning. Because sports, and recovery after incurring his own injuries, were important to Matt, he pursued a career that not only keeps him active, but he wanted to learn how to care for injuries so his athletic patients can return to their full potential as quickly as possible.

Honerman attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. He played baseball all four years and he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. After graduation, Matt was awarded a graduate assistant position at Northwest Missouri State University. There, he worked with the 2013 National Championship football team, in addition to their baseball, volleyball and softball programs. This allowed Matt the opportunity to earn his Masters Degree in Applied Health and Sports Science. He returned to Lincoln to complete an internship with the Lincoln Stars, which then turned into a full-time job as the athletic trainer for the Lincoln Saltdogs Professional Baseball Club and Lincoln Junior Stars Hockey Club. After the 2018 season, he moved down to Lawrence, KS where his wife completed her PhD in Music Theory from Kansas University. During this time, he worked in Kansas City at Truman Medical Center with their Orthopedics and Sports Medicine groups, as well as the UMKC softball team. In 2021, he returned to serve the Lincoln Saltdogs through Nebraska Orthopaedic Center, and has completed seven full seasons with the team.

In Matt’s spare time, he can be found on outings with friends and family. He enjoys working out, gaming, listening to music and attending concerts (especially rock concerts). He and his wife, Tanya, married in 2015 and they have two cats, Henry and Hans.
